Tips for Attending Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando Resort

Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando ResortTM is an Orlando tradition you won’t want to miss. This year the party happens every night from February 9 – April 4 at Universal Studios FloridaTM. All the festivities and concerts are included with your paid admission to Universal Studios so you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite attractions throughout the event.

Follow these tips to make the most of your Mardi Gras adventure in Orlando:

Be Prepared for all Kinds of Weather

Florida weather is unpredictable so it’s best to prepare for anything. Dress in layers as it may get chilly at night. It’s also smart to bring rain gear, such as a poncho or an umbrella since the party takes place rain or shine.

Dress Comfortably

Mardi Gras at Universal Studios takes place at in the evening, so you’ll likely be spending a full day at the park before the party even begins. A full day at the theme parks can be exhausting so maximize your stamina by wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.

Be Familiar with the Parade Route

You won’t want to miss out on the main event – the colorful parade! Check out the map with the parade route and arrive early to the viewing areas to ensure you get a good spot. You’ll catch beads as delightful dancers, stilt walkers, and street performers go by on authentic Mardi Gras floats from New Orleans.

Check the Concert Schedule

On select nights during Mardi Gras, Universal Studios hosts performances from some of the biggest names in music. Past performers include Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Phillip Phillips, and The Beach Boys. If you’re hoping to get front row access to the concerts, you’ll need to arrive early and camp out for a seat. Otherwise, head over after the parade and watch on the big screens.

Visit the French Quarter Courtyard

Be sure to allow time for a visit to the French Quarter Courtyard. This is where you’ll find tasty Cajun food, such as shrimp gumbo and jambalaya, as well as talented jazz and blues musicians. Don’t forget to enjoy a beignet!

Bring the Kids

A Mardi Gras celebration may not sound like the kind of event you’d take your kids to but thankfully, Orlando is all about family-friendly entertainment. There is even a special parade viewing spot just for kids in front of the Brown Derby Hat Shop where the youngsters can enjoy unobstructed views of the show.
