You’re on vacation and Christmas morning arrives. Not wanting to miss out on the holiday, you brought gifts, which you now open. Afterward, you head to the lobby and enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal. Now what? If you were home, you might stay in your cozy home and play board games or watch movies and football all day, but you’re on vacation! What else is there to do? Is it true that everything is closed on the holiday? Turns out not everything is closed. There is actually quite a bit to do around Orlando on Christmas Day.
Theme Parks
It’s not exactly common knowledge, but it certainly isn’t a secret either: all of Orlando’s major theme parks are open on Christmas Day. In fact, Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for the theme parks. If you plan on visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, or SeaWorld on Christmas Day, prepare yourself for larger than usual crowds as other families also choose to spend their holiday at the merriest places on Earth.
Beaches
Central Florida’s beaches are another fun Christmas Day activity that may not be on everyone’s minds. Orlando’s average temperature in December is 74°F (~23 °C), which is plenty warm enough to enjoy some sun on the sand, even if the water is a bit too chilly for a swim. Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach are both just about an hour away by car, and are equally popular destinations among tourists and locals alike.
Bowling
I’ve written about bowling in Orlando previously in my “How to Vacation like a Local” blog entry over on OrlandoHotes4Less.com. The two places I mentioned there, Main Event Entertainment and Kings Dining & Entertainment, are fun, family-friendly bowling options and they are worth checking out. With that being said, I personally feel like the Christmas holiday lends itself better to a quieter setting, like the one at AMF Sky Lanes. The low-key experience here has more of an “at-home” vibe, which provides that familiar feeling that I love about Christmas time.

Movies
For many families, going to the movies on Christmas is a can’t-miss tradition. It is one of the best ways to entertain an entire group of people of many different ages and interests. December has a whole host of exciting releases this year, which we outline a few in our “December Movie Releases” blog post on roseninn7600.com, and Orlando has fantastic movie theater options. Notable theaters include the 4DX seating at Regal Pointe Orlando and Disney Springs AMC’s Dine-In Theater.
