The State of Music
The Florida Music Festival is a unique blend of music festival and music industry conference held annually in the heart of Downtown Orlando. Every spring since 2002, the three-day event brings together talented aspiring artists and the industry professionals with the power to grant them that big break that could launch their careers. The festival even reaches beyond the music industry, tapping into Orlando’s local creative industries and attracting video game and television licensing firms to check out the talent.
Florida Music Festival does not yet have official dates or locations for 2019, but it’s worth putting on your radar right now. The same handful of downtown Orlando venues have hosted different parts of the event over the years. Usually, the main performance stage is at the Wall Street Plaza and other daytime conferences are held at Ace Café Orlando. Smaller performances take the stage at local favorites like The Social.
This year’s Florida Music Festival lineup will be announced later closer to the time of the festival. We’re hoping it will come out with the official date and venue announcements. Last year’s performers included a number of optimistic acts from many different genres. Overall the Florida Music Festival has a fairly rich history of success stories, having showcased acts like Manchester Orchestra (a band, not an actual orchestra), Say Anything, The Academy Is…, and even a young Taylor Swift way back in the festival’s inaugural year. The conference side of things also features some notable speakers, including people who founded other festivals like Bonnaroo and Warped Tour, and major record label executives and presidents.
Perhaps best of all, the showcase venues offer free admission each night during the event! It is worth noting that most of these venues require attendees to be 21+, but there are usually a fair number of all ages shows happening as well. If you are searching for a short, exciting getaway that won’t break the bank, the Florida Music Festival is one of the best decisions you can make.
