Mention Orlando and theme parks and thrill rides come to mind, but did you know we’re also one of the top foodie vacation destinations? From upscale dining on Restaurant Row to the international cuisine on I-Drive, to the many independent restaurants in the heart of downtown, food for every palate exists right here. If you haven’t yet explored Orlando’s culinary scene, may we suggest setting out on a culinary adventure during Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month.
What is Magical Dining Month?
Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month, an annual Orlando tradition, draws resident and visiting foodies to the area’s most popular restaurants. This year’s festivities take place August 23 – September 30. Each participating restaurant will prepare a Magical Dining Month menu offering a $35 prix fixe dinner consisting of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
Plan ahead and make reservations in advance. Although reservations are strongly suggested, they are not required as walk-in guests can participate in Magical Dining Month. (Note: A lot of locals and travelers explore the best of Orlando’s dining scene during the Magical Dining Month.) If you want to secure seats before your visit, go to the Magical Dining Month website and find your restaurant. Click on the link to make your reservation online. When you arrive for dinner, ask the host for the Magical Dining Month menu and let your culinary adventure begin!
Which restaurants are participating?
Last year over 100 restaurants across Orlando participated, and even more are expected to participate this year. The low, $35 per person price makes this a great opportunity to venture out to a restaurant you wouldn’t normally try. Embrace the spirit of Magical Dining Month and broaden your culinary horizons by going to a new restaurant or ordering a more adventurous dish. More participating restaurants and menus will post on the Magical Dining Month website as the event approaches.
If you have dietary restrictions, check the Magical Dining Month website to see which restaurants offer vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free options. Menus usually include a good selection with plenty of variety so that everyone can enjoy a delicious meal.
Eat For A Cause
In addition to offering some of Orlando’s best cuisine at an affordable price, a portion of Magical Dining Month proceeds also benefit local nonprofit organizations. Through Visit Orlando, one dollar from each meal supports a worthy cause in the Central Florida area. Over the years, these charities have collectively received $1,151,308 thanks to Magical Dining Month.
Past charities that have benefited include Best Buddies of Central Florida, the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Central Florida, and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. This year’s charities will be announced in July, so check the Magical Dining Month’s website for updates in the coming weeks.
